1 Saptashrungi is a Hindu pilgrimage site situated on a high peak of Satpuda mountain near Nashik in the state of Maharashtra.
2 The presiding deity worshiped here is goddess Saptashrungi, who is also known as Mahishasur Mardini.
3 The idol of in this temple is believed to be self-manifested (Swayambhu) and is always coated by orange colored Sindhoor.
4 This fierce image is about ten feet tall and is portrayed with around 18 hands holding different weapons and crafts.
5 The Hindu followers believe that the goddess Saptashrungi Nivasini actually dwells within these hill range consisting of seven hills.
6 The temple is also one among the popular as 51 Shakti Peethas of India and is the most visited religious place in Maharashtra.
